"Man, could I go for a good game of fetch right now. Even tug of war with a rope sounds good! I love hanging out with my human friends and having a good time. I'm not only about the playing though. I could just spend a day relaxing with you and watching some of your favorite movies. Come down to the Kansas Humane Society and check me out. I bet we will get along just great!" We are hosting a Spring Baby Shower and Adoption Event to help KHS prepare for all the babies arriving at our shelter this spring. Gifts of puppy or kitten milk replacer, exercise pens and financial support are especially appreciated as orphaned litters or babies born to a malnourished mother often need special nutritional support, medicines and extended foster care.

With the arrival of spring in the Wichita area, the Kansas Humane Society is and will continue to receive many litters of kittens and puppies as part of the over 1,000 that animals that enter our doors every month.

Foster Homes

We also need Foster Homes to care for these litters of kittens and puppies. A volunteer foster parent assists in the rehabilitation of an animal by providing in home care. The goal of the Foster Parent Volunteer is to help animals outside of the shelter environment who are underage, sick, injured, or under-socialized so that they may become healthy, adoptable animals. Foster parents provide a clean, safe, loving environment for the animals in their homes. Our goal is to care for as many pets as possible in order to make them available for adoption. With the help of our dedicated volunteers, we're able to save thousands of lives every year. Are you interested in embarking on a life-changing journey by becoming a Kansas Humane Society foster parent? Contact Pam Meyers, Foster Care Coordinator, at (316) 220-8713 or visit our website to find out more.

Wichita, like many cities throughout the country, has feral cats. What is a feral cat? It is a cat born and raised in the wild, or who has been abandoned or lost and reverted to wild ways in order to survive.  We're helping our community by providing spay/neuter services for feral cats and working with local Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) groups.

Watch the Wichita feral cat story that aired March 18, 2011 on KSN.
