Due to recent headlines, we feel it's important to share the difference between the Kansas Humane Society in Wichita (KHS) and the national Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), whose CEO is under a sexual harassment investigation.
Kansas Humane Society is NOT affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States. We don't receive any funding or resources from them and we have no contractual obligations. Our CEO is under no investigation or allegation. "Humane society" is a generic term used throughout the animal welfare world, but these organizations are not all connected.
Kansas Humane Society is Wichita's largest privately-funded, non-profit animal shelter organization: featuring pets for adoption, dog training classes, spay/neuter services, humane education, programs for kids, volunteer and foster opportunities, and a variety of fundraising programs. We receive no funding from the government, United Way or Humane Society of the United States. Our goal is to find loving homes for thousands of animals each year while providing community resources to improve the lives of companion animals.
Please let your family and friends know the difference if you hear them discussing this topic. Our animals thank you!
