July 4 Pet Safety

To keep July 4th safe for your furry family members, there are a few safety tips to follow.

  • Keep your pets indoors. Loud noises and bright lights can be frightening and pets are more likely to be stressed or escape when they are left outside. Keep pets indoors and play soft music or leave the TV on.
  • Wear them out ahead of time. Give your pet plenty of exercise during the day so they’ll have less energy and stress at night.
  • Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with proper ID. If your pet does manage to get out, an ID tag will help anyone who finds him/her be able to get them back home as soon as possible.

Keep your dog on a leash. Even after the main fireworks are over, if you take your pet outside to play or potty, any last-minute fireworks could startle your animal and cause them to run.
