Community Service Saturdays are the perfect opportunity to help the Kansas Humane Society while learning about animal care and having a blast doing it! \n \nJoin us behind the scenes at the Kansas Humane Society and get hands-on experience caring for animals\, learning about responsible pet care\, and discovering the satisfaction of giving back. Students will have the opportunity to create enrichment\, socialize with cats and dogs\, help in the clinic\, and other behind the scenes projects.\n*Activities subject to change \nDETAILS: \n\n9:00am to 11:30am\nFor students in Grades 6-12\n$15 donation per participant\nPre-registration is required to attend\n\nQUALIFICATIONS: \n\nParticipants need to be able to participate in all of the physical and learning activities.\nBecause of staffing limitations\, we are not able to accommodate special individual needs.\nUnfortunately\, we are unable to accommodate youth with severe allergies to animals or peanuts as they are involved in many volunteer activities.\nParticipants are expected to be on time and volunteer the entire shift.\nAppropriate attire includes closed-toe shoes\, pants\, and a t-shirt/jacket\nParticipants should also demonstrate eagerness to help and show respect towards animals and staff\, and be able to follow instructions.\nKHS staff reserves the right to remove any participant from the program at any given time.\n\nRegister

Join us for our Arts & Animals Critter Camp at the Kansas Humane Society!\n \nThis all-day camp gives young animal lovers the chance to express their creativity while learning about and spending time with shelter pets. Campers will create their own artwork to take home\, meet some of our adoptable animals\, and discover how they can make a difference in the lives of homeless pets. SUMMARY:Clear the Shelters 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us here at the Kansas Humane Society as we work to Clear the Shelter! We’re partnering with KSN and Hill’s Pet Nutrition to host the annual Clear the Shelters pet adoption event on August 21st\, 22nd\, and 23rd. \nWhen: \nFriday\, August 21st | 11 AM – 6 PM \nSaturday\, August 22nd | 11 AM – 6 PM\nSunday\, August 23rd | 1-5 PM \nWhere: Kansas Humane Society\, 3313 N. Hillside St.\, Wichita\, KS 67219 \nWaived Adoption Fees for adult dogs (1 year and older) and adult cats (1 year and older) courtesy of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. \nSpay/neuter surgery\, microchips\, and age-appropriate vaccinations are included. Adoptions are first-come\, first-served; no appointment is needed. We will not be able to arrange dog-to-dog introductions on event day\, so please leave your dogs at home. If you need a dog-to-dog introduction before adopting\, please come in the days beforehand or plan to adopt on a different day. Plan to expect longer than normal wait times. Additional discounts and promotions are not valid with this event. We will not be doing holds from Thursday\, August 20th\, through Sunday\, August 23rd! \nNot ready to adopt? DESCRIPTION:We’re hosting a FREE microchip clinic! Bring your cats and dogs to the KHS Learning Center starting at 10 AM on Saturday\, August 15th\, to receive their microchip.  There will be 192 spots available\, and pre-registration is required beforehand! A $20 deposit is required to reserve your spot\, but it will be refunded to you upon entry. DESCRIPTION:Read to Rover is a program designed to improve children’s reading and communication skills. Reading to a dog is typically less stressful for the child and a whole lot more fun! We’re excited to partner with Love On A Leash\, providing certified therapy dogs for this paw-some service! Plus\, your child will get to take home a free book! We will be doing 30-minute read times at 10:00\, 10:30\, and 11:00 AM (limit 1 session per child)! Please arrive at your scheduled time! \n \nWe ask a $5 deposit\, but it will be refunded to you upon entry. Community Service Saturdays are the perfect opportunity to help the Kansas Humane Society while learning about animal care and having a blast doing it! \n \nJoin us behind the scenes at the Kansas Humane Society and get hands-on experience caring for animals\, learning about responsible pet care\, and discovering the satisfaction of giving back. Students will have the opportunity to create enrichment\, socialize with cats and dogs\, help in the clinic\, and other behind the scenes projects.\n*Activities subject to change \nDETAILS: \n\n9:00am to 11:30am\nFor students in Grades 6-12\n$15 donation per participant\nPre-registration is required to attend\n\nQUALIFICATIONS: \n\nParticipants need to be able to participate in all of the physical and learning activities.\nBecause of staffing limitations\, we are not able to accommodate special individual needs.\nUnfortunately\, we are unable to accommodate youth with severe allergies to animals or peanuts as they are involved in many volunteer activities.\nParticipants are expected to be on time and volunteer the entire shift.\nAppropriate attire includes closed-toe shoes\, pants\, and a t-shirt/jacket\nParticipants should also demonstrate eagerness to help and show respect towards animals and staff\, and be able to follow instructions.\nKHS staff reserves the right to remove any participant from the program at any given time.\n\nRegister
