DESCRIPTION:Read to Rover is a program designed to improve children’s reading and communication skills. Reading to a dog is typically less stressful for the child and a whole lot more fun! We’re excited to partner with Love On A Leash\, providing certified therapy dogs for this paw-some service! Plus\, your child will get to take home a free book! We will be doing 30-minute read times at 10:00\, 10:30\, and 11:00 AM (limit 1 session per child)! Please arrive at your scheduled time! \n \nWe ask a $5 deposit\, but it will be refunded to you upon entry. If you do not attend\, the deposit will be kept as a donation and used to help care for our local pets. \nRegistration is strongly encouraged as spaces fill quickly. 1st-5th graders only.  \nRegister

SUMMARY:Free Microchip & Vaccine Clinic
DESCRIPTION:We’re hosting a FREE microchip and vaccine clinic! Bring your cats and dogs to the Linwood Recreation Center starting at 10 AM to receive their DHPP (distemper parvo vaccine) for dogs\, Bordetella vaccine for dogs\, FVRCP vaccine (panleukopenia & more vaccine) for cats\, rabies shots for both cats and dogs\, and microchips. Kittens will need to be at least 6 weeks old\, and puppies at least 2 months old. It will be a walk-up clinic\, so no registration will be needed.\n\n \nThe clinic will be limited to the first 200 animals and will be first-come\, first-served. We would strongly recommend getting there early! All dogs must be on a leash\, and all cats must be in a carrier. Please have 1 handler per pet.\n\n\nWhen: Saturday\, April 11th | 10 AM – 1 PMWhere: Linwood Recreation Center\, 1901 S. Kansas St.\, Wichita\, KS 67211\n\n\nA few notes:There is no limit to how many pets you can bring. Again\, we ask that if you bring multiple pets\, you have 1 handler per pet to help make the day as swift and easy as possible.\n\nWe want to thank the City of Wichita for providing the space\, as well as Petco Love for providing the vaccines! Community Service Saturdays are the perfect opportunity to help the Kansas Humane Society while learning about animal care and having a blast doing it! \n \nJoin us behind the scenes at the Kansas Humane Society and get hands-on experience caring for animals\, learning about responsible pet care\, and discovering the satisfaction of giving back. Students will have the opportunity to create enrichment\, socialize with cats and dogs\, help in the clinic\, and other behind the scenes projects.\n*Activities subject to change \nDETAILS: \n\n9:00am to 11:30am\nFor students in Grades 6-12\n$15 donation per participant\nPre-registration is required to attend\n\nQUALIFICATIONS: \n\nParticipants need to be able to participate in all of the physical and learning activities.\nBecause of staffing limitations\, we are not able to accommodate special individual needs.\nUnfortunately\, we are unable to accommodate youth with severe allergies to animals or peanuts as they are involved in many volunteer activities.\nParticipants are expected to be on time and volunteer the entire shift.\nAppropriate attire includes closed-toe shoes\, pants\, and a t-shirt/jacket\nParticipants should also demonstrate eagerness to help and show respect towards animals and staff\, and be able to follow instructions.\nKHS staff reserves the right to remove any participant from the program at any given time.\n\nRegister
