Dogs are great companions, and one family found their perfect match with Zepplin. Originally named Dozer, Zepplin has been an “awesome addition” to one lucky family.
“He is the kind of dog you can only dream of! We are so blessed to have him in our lives! He is such a fast learner and aims to please, he is an amazing dog.”

Hello Wichita!!! Are you ready to rock!? My name is Ranger, and I’m not a musician, but I’m a superfly rock-star dog. I can’t play a guitar, but man I love playing with a doggie toy. What’s the best part of adopting a musician like me? Take me home, and I’ll be playing right in your backyard. I’m a 4 year old, male, lab retriever/mix. You should come visit me backstage at my KHS studio for some one on one time. Of course, if you can’t visit me just yet, I’ve got a profile page you can view

Meow, that’s me! I’m Maria, and I’ll ask for at least 3 hours of petting a day. At night when you’re asleep, I’ll come and snuggle right up next to you. I won’t admit to stealing all the covers though. I might seem a little shy at first, but that’s because I haven’t got the chance to know you yet. You’ll see, when you meet with me one on one, I’m the best. I’m a 2 year old, female, domestic short hair/mix. You should come down to KHS and visit with me today and get a head start on all that petting. Until then, you can view my adoption page

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d share how one family feels everyday love with one of our dogs. Alfie was adopted on July 8, 2011, and the family has enjoyed great times and memories ever since.
“He has become the sweetest, most loving companion anyone could ask for. He is such a joy in our lives and we are so glad we found him. He loves going for long walks and curling up in bed with his blankie. Thank you KHS for taking such good care of him!”

Here at the Kansas Humane Society, we have discovered that growing pains can be bittersweet. Since our move to the
Murfin Animal Care Campus three years ago, we have greatly expanded our capacity to care for and save animal lives. That means that our needs have grown, too.
We are committed to focusing our limited resources on the programs and projects that will have the greatest impact on homeless pets in our community. With that in mind, we want to share with you our decision to discontinue the our Pets & Their People Calendar.
Ten years ago, before smart phones and social media like Facebook became part of our everyday lives, we debuted our first Pets & Their People planning calendar. Now in 2012, with book and page sales declining, and smart phone and calendar software use on the rise, a hard copy planning calendar is becoming less and less relevant or desired in our increasingly technological world.
Thank you for supporting our work by being a part of the Pets and their People Calendar.
We’d also like to say a special thanks to the calendar chairs, committee members, designers and photographers who
donated their time and talent to this project over the years.
Do you like tennis balls? Man I love chasing after them. I could go for a game of tennis ball chase right now too. My name is Boomer and I’m a 2 year old, male, boxer/mix. After we play tennis ball chase, can we watch a movie? I’m kind of a sucker for laying down with my human friends and watching things on the tv. You should stop by and visit me at KHS today. Until then, you can view my adoption page

I’m sleekest black cat you’ve ever seen. Hi, my name is Button, and I’m a 4 year old, domestic short hair mix. My hobbies include: following you around, purring when you pet me, and of course meowing. I must admit that I’m a little shy at first, but once I come out of my shell I’ll be your perfect little lap cat. I’d like to be the only cat you have. Oh? you’re going to the kitchen? Well, I think I’ll just follow you in there. You should come by KHS and visit me in person. Until then, you can view my adoption page

Our past success stories showcased two cats whose owners absolutely fell in love with their animal. This week, we’re keeping the love alive with doggy belly rubs, something Allie really likes.
“Allie was adopted in July of 2011. She developed a great love of pillows we are happy to encourage. Allie is very cuddly and sweet and she loves belly rubs. We are so blessed and so happy to have our beautiful Allie in our lives. She loves being spoiled and we love spoiling her.”
