Saturday, May 12th 2012 all pets 5 years & older are FREE at Kansas Humane Society! We have over 20 wonderful dogs and cats ages 5 years and older looking for new homes. One of the reasons the fee is waived is that some of these pets will need owners that are willing and financially able to provide the dental care they so desperately need.
Be sure to check out their Meet Your Match personality types too. If you’re a runner look for a Go Getter or Busy Bee; if you’d rather relax check out a Couch Potato. Need help reading the paper or working on the computer? Then you need a Personal Assistant! Do you love attention? A Constant Companion or Love Bug would adore you!

Hi all! My name is Misty and boy do I love to be around people. I’m a 3 year old female, boxer/mix. I’m a very mild mannered dog, but I do enjoy playing around with some toys. If you adopt me, we could be best friends forever! You should come by KHS and visit with me in person. I’ve been told I have one of those personalities that stick to you. Until then, you can view my adoption page

Meow! I’ll follow you around and be your best friend. Before I get too far ahead of myself, my name is Jessica and I’m a 2 year old female, domestic short hair. I really like cuddling, attention, and I purr easily. I might get a little shy around a bunch of people, but once I get used to them, I’ll be the center of attention. You should come down to KHS and visit with me today. Why you say? So you can see the cuddliest cat. Until then, you can view my adoption page

Some animals like Meiko are that perfect fit for a family, and their current pet.
A lucky family looking to add a new member and a companion for their Blue Heeler, Max, found that perfect fit with him in July of 2009. He’s playful, energetic, and a great joy to the family.
“He is a bundle of energy and has found a forever friend in our heeler mix, Max. He loves playing ball, frolicking in the snow and laying on his bed to enjoy a rawhide. He has made our family whole and we are so lucky to have found him. Thank you KHS!”

Hmm…well now that I’m here, my name is Lucian and I’m a 4 year old male, domestic medium hair. I like being pet, rubbing my chin on things, and being around people. I’m not one of scaredy cats that’s shy around people. I ran right up to you when I heard kitty kitty. Anywho, you should stop by KHS and visit with me, I’m off to find out who is saying kitty kitty. Animals form bonds not only with their owners, but with other animals. Sometimes it can be hard to fill a gap left behind from a lost companion. When Jake was adopted in July of 2011, he not only made a new friend, but he also picked up a few tricks on the way.
“We had lost two dogs the previous year to old age and our 5 year-old white German Shepherd, Sammi, needed a new pal. Jake has been the perfect addition. They get along wonderfully and she has helped teach him to swim and play frisbee. His enthusiasm and zest for life are off-the-charts, and we absolutely love having him. Thank you”

Hi, I’m Mona. Do you like video games? I love ‘em! I know, it’s strange that a girl likes to play video games, but we had someone bring in this ipad and they let me play with it. There is this totally cool fishing game on it. I was pretty good at it. I bet I could beat your high score. If you took me home, we could play all sorts of games together. I like the game where the string moves around and I almost get it. I’m going to get that string one day. You should stop by KHS and visit me in person. Tell ‘em the 9 month old, Mona sent ya.
