Spaying or neutering is a safe surgical procedure that not only prevents unwanted litters but also supports a longer, healthier life for your pet. At the Kansas Humane Society, we provide spay and neuter services for both dogs and cats—including affordable options for qualifying members of the public. Every dog and cat adopted from KHS is already spayed or neutered, ensuring they’re ready for a happy, healthy future. Thanks to a generous grant from the Bernice Barbour Foundation, we’re able to offer high-quality surgical care at significantly reduced prices through this life-saving program.

All Dog Spays - $150
All Dog Neuters - $120
All Cat Spays - $100
All Cat Neuters - $80
All Feral Cat Spay & Neuter - $75
This service is for low-income families who might not be able to afford a spay/neuter surgery for their pets elsewhere.
If you have already paid for the appointment and you decide you want to add a service, please email spayneuter@kshumane.org or call (316) 220-8719.
If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please email spayneuter@kshumane.org or call (316) 220-8719.
Pain medications are included in the price of surgery for both dogs and cats. For cats, however, you do have the option to purchase an injectable dose of Buprenorphine for pain that will last 3 days if you don’t feel comfortable medicating your cat with oral medications at home. The Buprenorphine injection is $5.00 and can be added as a service when you’re booking the appointment.
A surgery cone is NOT included in the price of surgery, however you are welcome to purchase one from us for $10 at the time that you book the appointment.
Your pet does not need to be current on vaccines and preventatives in order to have surgery. We do offer purchasing of vaccines and microchips at the time you book the appointment.
Check-in at 7:30 am sharp at the Admissions entrance of the Kansas Humane Society.
We do not keep your pet overnight unless a complication were to occur at the time of surgery. Pick-up is same afternoon between 4:00-4:30 pm.
All cats and dogs must be at least 2 months (8 weeks) old to have surgery. Kittens may be turned away if they are under 1.5 pounds.
Please email a picture of the incision to spayneuter@kshumane.org or call (316) 220-8719 so that we can assist you.
